Our Story
Ignite was founded and is led by a team of ATE and litigation funding experts who understand the intricacies of the commercial after the event insurance and litigation funding market. Ignite’s team have used their experience and knowledge of the market to overcome many of the issues highlighted by brokers and stakeholders. Ignite recognise the need to provide fast turnaround times for quotes, offer flexible and innovative solutions and to provide clear and transparent communication surrounding their decisions. We aim to provide our customers with cost effective solutions and access to justice, backed by A- rated capacity.

Ignite utilise a wide range of industry experts, solicitors and barristers in addition to our inhouse team to ensure each risk is appropriately assessed, priced and managed. Ignite’s underwriters have over 35 years' experience in finding innovative ATE solutions to meet the needs of their customers. Ignite’s underwriting team has constructed a trusted panel of solicitors and barristers that they can call upon if additional support is required. This has created a holistic underwriting philosophy which ensures only the best risks are accepted.

Ignite’s operations team provide consistent, fair, and prompt payments of any claims which have been accepted under the policy. Ignite’s underwriters carefully follow the progress of a claim ensuring that any payments which may be required, do not need to go through a lengthy validation process and can be paid promptly.

CEO and Co-founder
Byron’s experience over the past decade includes a plethora of cross-class responsibilities within the (Re)Insurance industry, having held both analytical and transactional roles at several leading insurance organisations, including Argo Syndicate 1200, Chubb, and Aon. As well as founding an analytics and targeted client acquisition business, Byron has supported the capacity acquisition, product development and growth strategies of a number of market leading MGAs. Byron’s commitment in the co-founding of Ignite is driven by a strong appetite to further develop the harmonisation of Insurance and Commercial Litigation.

CUO and Co-founder
David has worked in the Legal Expenses market for over 20 years and is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute. He has notable experience at a number of BTE and ATE insurance companies as well as most recently having a senior management role at a leading reinsurer. David’s experience covers a wide breath of ATE products having insured high volume, low value claims, right through to multi million international arbitrations. David is looking forward to driving Ignite’s ATE proposition forward and solidifying Ignite’s industry presence as the go to market for ATE.

Head of ATE and Co-founder
Jamie has worked in the ATE market for the past 17 years. His experience includes underwriting and managing a significant volume of High Court disputes as well as supporting successful appeals to both the Court of Appeal (Salt v Stratstone Specialist Ltd [2015] EWCA Civ 745) and Supreme Court (Braganza v BP Shipping Ltd [2015] UKSC 17). Jamie has created bespoke hedging products for commercial litigation funders and also a number of novel insurance schemes across the areas of privacy, property and nuisance litigation. He holds both Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Law as well as Cilex and CII qualifications and has a keen interest in the development of the litigation risk transfer market, having written both his undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations around these topics.

Head of Strategic Partnerships
Kyle oversees new business opportunities and manages key client accounts for Ignite’s insurance scheme business. With 20+ years in the legal and insurance sector, Kyle has worked for some of the most respected and recognised firms within the litigation sector. His most recent role was Director of Business Development at Blume (part of the Fletchers Group). Kyle also has extensive experience providing LEI insurance products to the legal sector via his senior management role at Financial and Legal Insurance. Kyle’s record of delivering significant growth greatly enhances Ignite’s operational efficiencies and capacity to serve clients effectively.

Scheme Underwriting Manager
Mike has more than 40 years insurance experience including the last 22 years in senior positions in the legal expenses insurance sector. He has been actively involved with Legal Protection International – the global association for legal protection insurers. Mike believes in access to justice for all and the vital role that legal expenses insurance plays in serving such justice. Mike is a Chartered Insurer and a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Underwriting Assistant
Duval is an Underwriting Assistant working across Ignite’s commercial and consumer business lines.
Prior to joining Ignite, Duval worked as a paralegal for a national defendant law firm, assisting with a case load of high-value, complex injury claims role which involved managing litigation, GDPR issues, document filing, legal research and liaising with various stakeholders.
Duval graduated with a 2.1 in Law from De Montfort University. Duval is currently undertaking Chartered Insurance Institute studies.
